The Christmas Quiz held on the 4th December in the Village Hall provided a much needed social gathering for neighbours and friends with over 50 attending. Our thanks to the excellent quiz masters, Ian and Lorraine for running this successful event which raised about £500 for the Village Hall.
December continued in the Christmas spirit with the Village Carol Service in the Church and house to house visits by Father Christmas (daytime) and carol singers (evening) who braved rain, wind and cold and raised over £500 for Christian Aid. Great traditions maintained.
In January we will be saying farewell to Roy and Rita Scott who are moving to Lincolnshire to be nearer their daughter Carol. They have lived at “Lycaena” in this village for over 50 years and have contributed much to our community with great friendship and support to neighbours. Roy was a founder member of the “Little Common Committee” which he chaired for many years. A Farewell Party is planned for them on Saturday 15th January in the Village Hall from 6.00pm to 8.00pm to which all are welcome. Please complete a Covid Lateral Flow Test before coming.
Our donations to Community Matters Lane End Foodbank and One Can Trust High Wycombe continue to be needed and are gratefully received. We deliver to Lane End on the first, third and fifth Friday of each month and to High Wycombe on the second and fourth Friday.
