School News

Last week – (1) parents and carers were welcomed in to look at the children’s work one afternoon last week; (2) later in the week, although sadly sports day was confined to the playground (the school cannot afford to have the cricket pitch grass cut regularly to make it safe), despite the limitation of no running races, parents and children had a great afternoon.

Monday 7th July 1.30 p.m.  - the KS2 play ‘ Robin Hood’.  The community is  very welcome to come and see the dress rehearsal.

Tuesday 22nd July – afternoon service in the church to finish off the term and say goodbye to the Year 6’s there will be service in church.  Each child who is leaving will be given a book by the church.

Community Matters Foodbank, Trinity Church, Lane End – The Community Foodbank team, Barbara Ewing and Anne Duthie report, “This past week Community Matters has been visited by 18 local Lane End families with a variety of needs and problems. Most of the problems were quite serious involving illness, financial worries, household repairs, a shortage of food and toiletries for their families.  If they do not have their own transport we provide them and their heavy bags transport to their homes.  Some of their problems were heart-breaking and ones Community Matters could only help them with in minor ways by offering to do our best in papering over some of the cracks in their lives.

We again received most gratefully a large amount of goods, including fresh food items from Cadmore End.  Not only a wonderful amount of food but also 3 child car seats in excellent condition which our families were really delighted about having. Your food and financial donations are always so appreciated.  Many thanks again.”

Our next delivery is on Thursday 17th July.   Please leave your kind donations by Wednesday 16th or at the latest by 10.00 a.m. on Thursday 17th July.
