Sadly the latest casualty of the Corona Virus Lockdown is the proposed Fund Raising Hog Roast at Priestley’s Farm on Sept 6th. This is partly on account of “Social Distancing” recommendations, partly because of complications suffered/suffering by John Heck following a recent operation. Sad, ( cancellation ) but necessary. We wish John a speedy uncomplicated recovery.

Church News.
The church remains open for “Private Prayer only” in the daytime. Please enter your name and phone number if entering for possible Track & Trace should it prove necessary.
Rev Mark Ackford officiated at the first 11.00 am Service since LockDown on 19th July. It was inevitably (?) a very different Service ….No hymns, “social distancing”, no communion wine and exiting via the Vestry door. Nevertheless 14 loyal parishioners attended.
R.I.P. Some 30 plus mourners were present at the graveside Funeral Service on July 21st of local resident David Younghusband who tragically died recently on the B482 21st July. Rev Mark Ackford officiated.

One Can Trust Donations.
Thank you all who continue to donate to The One Can Trust in the boxes left out in the church porch. It is perhaps worth a reminder of just how our donations help the Trust.
“ In some areas of Buckinghamshire 1 in 3 children live in poverty. Providing food to those who find themselves in times of crisis brings hope and relieves pressure on other services.
Our impact on the community
We currently distribute 275 food parcels a month through a network of hubs. We give away over £150,000 of food a year. A food parcel for a family would cost £65 to buy, we deliver it at a cost of approx £5.”
So, even if it may seem a struggle at times to remember to put out donations our contributions are very evidently appreciated. Having witnessed the One Can Trust Donation/Distribution Centre in High Wycombe be assured it is a very well-organised, impressive operation

Village Hall Repaint. Many thanks to Peter Jennings, Roy Scott, ( no substitute for experience ) and David Hall together with other accomplices for repainting the outside of the Village Hall.. No easy task as it involved frequent low level bending and the warding off of angry wasps. Nevertheless a noticeable improvement

Neighbourhood watch update…from Lane End Facebook site
“We have received reports of two incidents that have taken place in the village of burglaries in the last week. On both occasions high value items such as cash and jewellery have been taken so there appears to be more of a professional feel to the cases rather than opportunistic petty crime.
Today (Wednesday) a silver people carrier driven by a male with long hair wearing no top has been reported acting suspiciously. While we don’t wish to worry any one unduly if everyone can please keep an eye out, and if they see this vehicle or any others acting incorrectly please report it to 101 non-emergency police. The more information: number plate, description of photo the better.
Summer months traditionally see an increase in these sorts of incidents as the criminals are aware people are away on holiday/hot weather, windows open etc.”
